Outdoor store new interior uses two different systems of concrete floor. Although final result - ground vs upper floor - appears to be the same, let's look closer to the similarities and differences between Bautech monolithic concrete floor (ground floor), and Baufloor® screed (1st floor).
Ground floor: hardened concrete flooring
Also called industrial flooring. In recent times it has even gained popularity in fairly exclusive retail outlets, and a touch of elegance can be added by grinding, polishing. Check colours.
It is resistant to abrasion and dusting, easy to sweep and wash. These are key characteristics at a clothing store where merchandise must be in perfect visual condition.
Grey, neutral flooring colour, is ideal for colorful mountaineering clothes. The floor doesn't visually compete with merchandise on shelves.
With monolithic floor the distinguishing feature is that the concrete slab makes both a structural layer and a finished surface. What does it mean for a customer? Low price per square meter of floor and rapid construction process, because only a few days after a slab had been poured of the truck mixer and troweled, the floor can be tentatively used.
The downside is, however, the need to consider the floor finish already in a building project. If concrete is laid and not immediately hardened with topping and trowels, it can only be correted by pouring a screed, as was done on the 1st floor.
First floor: Baufloor® screed
It may happen that the building shell is ready and only then the floor finishing is being decided. And austere concrete floor is preferred. If the structural slab is ready and had not been hardened. What then?
Baufloor® screed (8-15 mm of thickness) can help by making an alternative to carpeting, ceramic tiles, parquet. Such flooring was laid on the first floor of the pictured store. Appearance and operational characteristics similar to the ground floor, but the total price per square meter of all the successive layers can be higher than with monolithic floor.
Baufloor® colours
Baufloor® screed on the upper floor. Texture and colour resemble the ground floor, although the technology is different, because Baufloor is only 1 cm thick
View from upper floor: classic industrial slab - more than enough durability and dust proofness for shops.
